Amazon has rapidly mobilized its resources to support Central Florida communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, leveraging its extensive logistics network. The company dispatched over 657,000 essential supplies, including water, hygiene kits, and flood mitigation materials, from its Disaster Relief Hub in Atlanta to various nonprofit organizations within 48 hours. By collaborating with local and national partners such as the American Red Cross and Operation BBQ Relief, Amazon has delivered more than 2.3 million essential items to support recovery efforts across the region. This initiative is part of a larger response that has seen Amazon provide over 40 truckloads of relief items to address immediate needs.
In addition to delivering supplies, Amazon has prioritized employee safety during the storms, closing over 50 operations sites and compensating employees for missed shifts. The company has also initiated wellness checks to ensure staff are safe and have access to necessary resources. Using advanced technology, Amazon's Disaster Response team is assessing needs on the ground and employing drone mapping to capture high-resolution images of affected areas. With a commitment to supporting disaster relief efforts, Amazon has donated over 25 million relief items globally, enhancing its role as a key player in humanitarian assistance during crises.
