Spectacular views, a delightful menu, and friendly service are just the tip of the iceberg of what makes the Beach House an incredible dining experience. Located in Kauai and perched right on top of the beach, this restaurant is true to its name. Lauded — and awarded — as one of the most romantic restaurants in Kauai, Beach House looks as though it was plucked right out of a romance novel, complete with a backdrop of glistening waves, larger-than-life palm trees, and a show-stopping sunset. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the restaurant is a hot spot for brides and grooms looking for an idyllic setting for their special day.
No matter what the occasion, though, you’re bound to have a good time at Beach House. Upon entering, the staff greets everyone with some old-fashioned Hawaiian hospitality. You might even find yourself seated next to the owner of the restaurant group and head chef Marshall Blanchard, both of whom were warm and accommodating.
The restaurant itself is breathtaking and a truly breezy bungalow. Whether you’re sitting by the bar or lounging outdoors by the manicured lawn, the ambiance is second to none. Some people even report seeing flocks of birds magically swanning about the restaurant in unison as the sun goes down.
Chef Blanchard ensures that the food stands up to the spectacular location. The starters are fresh and perfectly balanced, designed to get the senses going and mouths watering. From fresh lobster deviled eggs with zingy pops of lime to spicy Szechuan green beans and refreshing poke tacos complete with raw ahi, there is something for everyone. The pork potstickers really stand out, effortlessly playing with heat and sweetness thanks to the ingenious addition of habanero and pineapple marmalade.
Filet Mignon is always the star of the show here, but you can’t go wrong with the freshly caught fish of the day served with macadamia nut butter, or the fish and lobster fettuccine tossed with capers and a beurre blanc. Dipping into the vegetables is also a must, with the tantalizing watermelon salad, slow-roasted local beets, and pumpkin patch ravioli highlighting the locally sourced produce.
The restaurant prides itself on bringing in fish directly from fishermen on the island, beef from neighboring ranches, as well as local produce and coffee. With the DNA of Hawaii evident in every part of Beach House, the experience is as delicious as it is inimitable.
You’ll probably find yourself extending your meal as much as you can, thanks in no small part to the extensive list of unique drinks and desserts.
The signature cocktails offer cheeky twists on classics — the Monkeypond Mai Tai, Pele's margarita, the black Manhattan — as well as drinks that highlight local flavors, like the No Ka Oi, which combines ocean vodka, passionfruit puree, Thai basil, and lime. In addition to local beers and an impressive selection of wines, Beach House also offers Amari and after-dinner drinks like espresso martinis.
And then there's the most important part of any meal — dessert. Desserts come complete with drink pairings to ensure that the hardest part is choosing what to eat. Whether you indulge in the coconut crème brûlée, lemon semolina cake, tiramisu, or a chocolate tart (or all four), the Beach House will be an unforgettable experience; one that will linger on your tongue and mind long after the night is over.
