If one were to think of combining all of the modern era tools for health and wellness into a hotel, you’d probably get something very close to the London hotel Inhabit. It combines an airy, spacey minimalist vibe with healthy fruit and tea as well as mediation, yoga and Pilates offerings. Moreover the vendors to the hotel tend to be socially responsible contributing a portion of their proceeds to causes such as mental health.
The entire concept from top to bottom captures where our current generation is headed. Gone are the thrill seekers pursuing raucous parties, heavy drinking and thumping house music. Today’s travelers want peace, quiet and a good night’s rest…so we think.
Boutique hotels are testing grounds for the larger hotel companies. All eyes are on new concepts to see how hotel features should evolve over time. If the theme of serenity catches on, larger scale hotels will bring it to the masses, incorporating more of those features into their existing infrastructure.
One example can be seen with Global Staybridge Suites which also owns EVEN Hotels that is focused on wellness. Company vice president Raul Ortiz comments, “Our guests are traveling more for work and need a hotel offering that allows them to maintain their wellness routine, whatever that means to them, while on the road.”
Overall the hotel industry is becoming more attune to the desires of today’s consumer and the key way to improve the travel experience – institute health and wellness features.
