Hyatt Expands with Acquisition of Standard International Brands

With the completion of its acquisition of Standard International, the parent company of The Standard and Bunkhouse brands, Hyatt Hotels Corporation has greatly increased its market share in the lifestyle hotel industry. 22 active hotels with a combined capacity of about 2,000 rooms are included in the transaction. Notable properties include The Standard, London, and The Standard, High Line in New York City. Additionally, future openings are planned in key locations like Singapore and Bangkok, alongside Standard Residences projects in cities such as Miami, Lisbon, and Mexico City. This acquisition further solidifies Hyatt’s position as a leader in the global hospitality industry.

The deal also brings over 30 future projects to Hyatt’s portfolio and paves the way for the launch of a dedicated Lifestyle group led by Amar Lalvani, former Executive Chairman of Standard International. This move aligns with Hyatt’s asset-light business model and its continued expansion across various segments. As Hyatt's global presence expands, so does its loyalty program, with World of Hyatt membership having tripled since 2017. Acquiring Standard International marks a strategic move for Hyatt, combining innovative experiences with the company's established global network.
