Lodge + Dine announces a 5-star rating for Weekapaug Inn after a three-day visit evaluating the guest experience. The hotel excelled distinctively in its scenic and luxurious accommodations, exceptional farm-to-table dining, and superb beach access.
Perched along the Rhode Island shoreline, this establishment seamlessly combines casual comfort with luxurious furnishings. Known for its farm-to-table dining and a variety of upscale amenities, the venue creates an extraordinary coastal retreat that consistently leaves a lasting impression.
The accommodations offer a perfect balance of elegance and comfort. The Pond View rooms provide tranquil, picturesque views of Quonochontaug Pond, where guests can immerse themselves in the peaceful surroundings. These rooms feature soft linens, warm lighting, and luxurious interiors that evoke classic New England charm. Equally impressive are the Garden and Cove View rooms, with their inviting ambiance and scenic views of lush landscapes. Both options provide spacious bathrooms with modern fittings, including excellent water pressure in the showers.
However, a few minor inconveniences were noted during the stay. The geothermal cooling system, while environmentally friendly, can be somewhat noisy and does not always respond accurately to thermostat settings. Additionally, the old wooden doors, while aesthetically pleasing, occasionally present challenges when opening or closing. Despite these minor issues, the overall experience remains one of refined comfort.
The dining experience at the establishment stands out as one of its strongest features. The chef’s mastery is evident in every dish, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast and lunch offer satisfying and flavorful options, while dinner provides a choice between a four-course tasting menu or signature dishes from the regular menu. Each meal is a tribute to the region, blending traditional flavors with contemporary culinary techniques, and consistently delivered with precision and care.
In terms of activities, the hotel offers a range of options to suit all preferences. Guests can enjoy water-based activities such as motorboat outings and kayaking, while land-based pursuits like biking and croquet offer a more leisurely exploration of the grounds. However, one area that could be improved is the pool experience. The pool tends to become overcrowded, making it difficult to secure a chair. When available, the service by the pool is adequate, and food can be ordered while relaxing, but the high demand can make the experience less enjoyable during peak times.
The semi-private beach, however, more than makes up for this. Reserved exclusively for hotel guests and local residents, the beach is expansive, immaculately clean, and ideal for long walks. The water temperature is particularly inviting, offering a pleasant swimming experience. Lifeguards maintain a vigilant presence, ensuring safety and advising guests when conditions may be too rough for swimming, further enhancing the overall enjoyment of the beach.
The service throughout the establishment is generally warm and attentive, though there are occasional inconsistencies at the front desk depending on the staff member on duty. Despite this, the valet service was consistently prompt and professional, setting the tone for a smooth and enjoyable stay from the moment of arrival.
