Viking, a prominent name in river cruises, is set to enhance its Mekong River offerings with the introduction of its latest river ship, Viking Tonle. Scheduled to commence operations in October 2025, Viking Tonle follows the success of its predecessor, Viking Saigon, launched in 2022, and will navigate the scenic Mekong River through Cambodia and Vietnam.
Designed to accommodate 80 guests in 40 outside staterooms, each featuring a veranda or French balcony, Viking Tonle promises an intimate and immersive river cruise experience. The ship boasts amenities such as a restaurant, a spa and fitness center, a pool, and an outdoor bar on the top deck, all adorned with Viking's signature Scandinavian design.
Viking Tonle will exclusively operate Viking's 15-day "Magnificent Mekong" itinerary, covering the route between Kampong Cham, Cambodia, and Mỹ Tho, Vietnam. This extensive journey includes eight days aboard the ship and multi-night extensions in key Vietnamese cities, including Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The ship will also spend overnight stays in several destinations, including Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia, the latter renowned for the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Angkor Wat.
Included in the fare are 16 tours, ensuring a comprehensive exploration of each port of call. These excursions range from scenic rickshaw rides to visits to local markets, providing travelers with a rich cultural experience. The package also covers Wi-Fi, beer and wine during lunch and dinner, and onboard entertainment, featuring enrichment lectures and destination performances.
