New York, NY Series: The Crosby Bar Brings Character to Hotel Dining

Lodge & Dine announces a 5-star rating for The Crosby Bar after a day’s visit evaluating the guest experience. The restaurant stood out for its lively room, polished service, and a breakfast and brunch menu that was as well judged as the setting.

Situated inside the Crosby Street Hotel, this dual bar-and-restaurant operates as a lively extension of the property’s personality. Serving as both bar and restaurant, the convivial space opens onto a shady, ivy-laden terrace that softens the pace of SoHo just beyond its doors. A long bar, strung with original 1950s pendant lights, anchors the room and frames a relaxed brasserie menu suited to informal drinks, breakfast meetings, leisurely lunches, and intimate dinners.

The design is confident without feeling overworked. Patterned banquettes, jewel-toned chairs, animal motifs, and art-lined walls give the room its own identity, while floor-to-ceiling windows bring in enough natural light to keep it open and inviting. In a city full of hotel restaurants that can blur together, this one is easier to remember.

The food matched the setting. A vegetarian breakfast of free-range eggs cooked to order with sautéed mushrooms, kale, roasted tomatoes, spinach, and zucchini tasted fresh and balanced. Burrata scrambled into soft eggs with grilled tomato, arugula, and truffle Pecorino brought more richness, but stayed controlled. Cinnamon and raisin challah French toast arrived soft at the center, with peach compote keeping the sweetness in check. A spinach salad with shrimp, shiitakes, avocado, feta, egg, bacon, and sherry vinaigrette could have felt overloaded on paper, but came together well. A lemon tart with crème fraîche ended the meal with a bright, clean finish.

True to its daytime focus, the beverage selection features a range of cold-pressed juices that pair naturally with the fresh, balanced menu. The Detox, made with kale, spinach, celery, and apple, was fresh and lightly sweet. Energize, with beet, apple, carrot, and lemon, had more depth and a gentle earthiness. An Immunity shot of ginger, lemon, and cayenne brought sharp heat and woke up the palate fast.

Service remained steady throughout the visit. Staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without slipping into formality. Coffee was refilled without asking, dishes arrived promptly, and recommendations felt natural.

The Crosby Bar succeeds because the whole experience feels coherent. The room has character, the food is well judged, and the service is strong without becoming performative. For breakfast, brunch, or an afternoon meal in SoHo, it stands out as one of the more memorable hotel dining rooms in the neighborhood.
